DOSA Award Nomination 2020-2021

We are excited to announce the 12th Annual Division of Student Affairs Awards program. DOSA Awards will be presented this fall semester (8/25/2021) and will recognize students and staff members from within the Division of Student Affairs for exemplary performance from the previous academic year. Nominations are accepted for each of the categories listed below (and are required for those not identified as a self-submit award). An individual may also self-submit an application for the following categories: Promotion of Public Affairs, Innovation by a Team, and Outstanding New Program or Initiative. An individual, team, or program may be considered for one award category only. Additionally, you must submit one application form per category of nomination or self-submission (for example, if you are nominating two different employees for two different awards, you must use one application form per award nomination). A letter of nomination from the person making the nomination or self-submitting must be included with the application packet. Supporting materials (program brochures, pictures (limit of 6), additional letters of support, etc.), if desired and appropriate, may be included.

AWARD CATEGORIES

*PROMOTION OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS
• Presented to an individual or team
• Promoted an appreciation, understanding, or celebration of the Public Affairs Mission through delivery of a program and/or through personal actions
• The event created a positive impact on our campus
• How did this program exceed any other service/volunteer program?

*INNOVATION BY A TEAM
• Combined cooperative efforts of a team to develop and/or deliver an innovative response to student needs
• Demonstrated benefit of innovation to students and participating units
• Demonstrated achievement of expectations in developing and/or delivering an innovative response to student needs
• Received outstanding evaluation of innovative response from student who was impacted

*NEW PROGRAM OR INITIATIVE
• Developed a new program or initiative to meet specific outcome(s) in accordance with our Public Affairs Mission
• Developed and implemented outstanding new program or initiative within last two years
• Demonstrated achievement of the program or initiative goals
• Received outstanding evaluations from participants

OUTSTANDING STUDENT AFFAIRS BRIDGE BUILDER
• Nomination must be made by a current Student Affairs employee
• Nominee must be classified as a current Missouri State University employee (faculty or staff) working outside the Division of Student Affairs at the time of nomination
• Nominee may not have received this award previously
• Nominee has demonstrated support for the division of Student Affairs through collaboration in the development of programs and/or services
• Preference will be given to nominees with academically-related contributions within the current nomination year

OUTSTANDING ADVOCATE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE & INCLUSION
• Classified as a current staff member (full or part-time), or graduate assistant within the Division of Student Affairs
Nominee may not have received this award in two consecutive years
• Nominee actively seeks opportunities to increase knowledge of social justice and inclusion; and incorporates this knowledge into their practice
• Nominee brings awareness and/or takes action to remove barriers to social justice and inclusion within and/or outside Missouri State University
• Nominee advocates for the development of a more inclusive and socially conscious department, institution, and/or profession

OUTSTANDING GRADUATE ASSISTANT
• Classified as a graduate assistant
• Completed at least one semester of graduate work
• Demonstrated superior job performance
• Demonstrated pride in work and displayed a positive attitude toward responsibilities and people
• Demonstrated commitment to Division of Student Affairs and Missouri State University through service on committees, engaging in actions that support department, Division, and University values, and/or engaging in collaborative efforts across the University

OUTSTANDING NEW STAFF MEMBER
• Classified as an exempt or non-exempt staff member
• Employed within the Division of Student Affairs for less than three years
• Demonstrated superior job performance
• Demonstrated pride in work and displayed a positive attitude toward responsibilities and people
• Demonstrated commitment to Division of Student Affairs and Missouri State University through service on committees, engaging in actions that support department, Division, and University values, and/or engaging in collaborative efforts across the University

OUTSTANDING PART-TIME STAFF MEMBER
• Employed within the Division of Student Affairs for one or more years
• Demonstrated superior job performance above and beyond expectations
• Demonstrated pride in work and displayed a positive attitude toward responsibilities and people
• Demonstrated commitment to Division of Student Affairs and Missouri State University through service on committees, engaging in actions that support department, Division, and University values, and/or engaging in collaborative efforts across the University

OUTSTANDING NON-EXEMPT STAFF MEMBER
• Classified as a non-exempt staff member
• Employed within the Division of Student Affairs for three or more years
• Demonstrated superior job performance above and beyond expectations
• Demonstrated pride in work and displayed a positive attitude toward responsibilities and people
• Demonstrated commitment to Division of Student Affairs and Missouri State University through service on committees, engaging in actions that support department, Division, and University values, and/or engaging in collaborative efforts across the department, the Division of Student Affairs, and/or the University

OUTSTANDING EXEMPT STAFF MEMBER
• Classified as an Exempt staff member
• Employed within the Division of Student Affairs for three or more years
• Demonstrated superior job performance above and beyond expectations
• Demonstrated pride in work and displayed a positive attitude toward responsibilities and people
• Demonstrated commitment to Division of Student Affairs and Missouri State University through service on committees, engaging in actions that support department, Division, and University values, and/or engaging in collaborative efforts across the University
• Demonstrated involvement in professional activities (presentations at conferences, committee work for professional association, office held in professional association, or publications)
